A Call for a Violence Free Election

Kingston, Jamaica:                                                                                                                                                                                         As Jamaicans get ready to vote on December 29 2011 Chairman of the VPA Dr. Elizabeth Ward has asked supporters and the two main political parties  to encourage a violence- free election.Ward made the call on behalf  of the VPA after a few reports of alledged election affiliated violence were  aired in various news  broadcast. According to a press release sent out by the VPA, the violence prevention group is encouraging he establishing of an atmosphere that is respectful and responsible. The VPA is asking that Jamaicans also report breaches  of code of conduct to the constituted authorities and  to act with respect regarding the results of the election. The VPA is also applauding the work of the many organizations and encorages them to continue advocating and collaborating for what can be one of the most violence- free.
